By Nate Bray, 2007-04-13

Omaha Ne, home of national recording producer Terry Lewis, and successful recording acts 311, Manheim Steamroller, buddy miles, mulberry lane, Carol Rogers ( of Sergio Mandez fame), and Preston Love has now birthed another great act--Mr. Nate Bray. Nate's musical experience is extensive and spans the 1968-2005 time period. He is well-known in Las Vegas entertainment circles, and he also played bass guitar for many nationally known artists who have traveled throughout the nation.
Although Nate Bray has spent most of his life coordinating the music that backed up others, he also possessed a great singing voice that was seldom highlighted. Nate was the consummate team player who remained humble and tried not to stick out above other band members. He was always willing to put others first.

This CD release changes all of that: Nate Bray is front and center with a bold new sound that reminds the music world of a cross between Michael McDonald, James Ingram, Marvin Gaye, and Curtis Mayfield. In his debut album entitled "Got to be Strong," Nate has produced a project that could easily end up with several songs charted in Billboard's top 40 R&B and/or POP/MOR charts.

In a world where music has become cheapened and watered down, Mr. Bray, his writing team, and his producer have brilliantly merged an old school form of singing with the contemporary instrumentation of today's music. Nate's musical craftsmanship comes through loud and clear with dance songs and songs of inspiration and encouragement. This is music for the thinking and feeling person, yet it is commercial enough to appeal to both young and old, as well as be played in the hippest teen and adult dance clubs.

Loof for this CD project to go big on its own or at the very least, look for national recording artists and producers to knock on Mr. Bray's door and request permission to purchase his material. Of particular interest are the title cuts "Got to be Strong," "Conquest," "Keeping It Real," "Turning Point," and "Illusions's Web."

Also, look for the song entitled "Dark Child II (Remix)" to soon become one of America's favorite Black History songs. The remaining 4 song are also strong cuts and serve more than just album filler; in fact, the entire CD is a hit! One listen and you'll agree that this is one the better projects to come out of the Midwest in many years.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Mike Rickard 627 Woodland Avenue SE Atlanta, GA 30316 (404) 627-2580 or mike@mikerickard.com
Mike Rickard Releases Stirred Not Shaken

January 12, 2005 - ATLANTA, GA - Singer-songwriter Mike Rickard announces the release of his first CD, Stirred Not Shaken, a collection of 11 pop/rock songs written by the artist.

The songs on Stirred Not Shaken display Mike's sensitivity and humor in dealing with life's big issues: things such as fear, loss, and loneliness, to ultimately finding happiness and love. The album title comes from the irreverent, unapologetic line, "So here's to all the therapy I guess I should have taken/If I had to sum it up, I've been stirred, but I'm not shaken" - taken from the gospel rock song "Who I Am".

During the recording process, Mike entered "Forgot To Forget," the first song recorded for the project, in the 2003 Georgia Music Industry All Genres Songwriting Competition. The song, which competed against more than 200 songs, received a semifinalist award.

Stirred Not Shaken is already getting great reviews. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution calls it, "a fine first effort that leans toward mainstream pop, often with a danceable beat." The Stonewall Society says, "Mike succinctly welcomes you into his musical world, offering his thoughts and words in a most effective and beautiful way. This artist genuinely leaves you feeling something of himself has been shared. And that is a very good thing." The Muse's Muse says, "Rickard's voice is very rich and the production is very slick and modern and would stand up next to anything currently on the radio. But the lyrics and Rickard's point of view are more original than you might find there."

A number of radio and internet radio stations have placed several songs from the CD into rotation.

Mike Rickard is an Atlanta-based singer and songwriter on the web at www.mikerickard.com. By Chad Perrone, 2007-04-13

It's evident when listening to Chad Perrone sing that there isn't a lot he holds back both on stage, and on his records. His introspective lyrics are dark and intense, but within them lay a hint of optimism and hope. Everyone goes through dark times. And we all deal with those times differently. I write. And in doing that, I'm not doing myself any favors by sugar coating how I feel. It's apparent that he did himself right on his latest effort, a solo record, to be released later this year that he is producing with longtime friend Dennis Carroll. The record, a collection of 12 songs that were written over the course of 3 years, is a departure from the work hes done with the popular Boston based band Averi...
The Haverhill, MA native started writing and recording when he was in high school. I used to spend an entire week in the basement recording songs, playing all the instruments etc. I think I was hooked at an early age on the feeling I got when I had finished a song& listening to something I had created. And it would appear that he's come full circle, returning to the studio to record his most personal work yet.

I wanted the record to be about the songs. I didn't want the focus to be on the perfect take or elaborate production. We recorded the [disc] in Dennis apartment, so we were a little limited with what we could do. It's not as polished as the stuff I've done with Averi& but I'm okay with that. I told Dennis that I just wanted to lay the songs down and see where we go with them. As long as the vibe was right and what I was trying to say came across.

When asked why he chose to explore the solo opportunity Perrone said that I didn't make a solo record with the intention of turning my back on Averi. I made this record for me, because as a songwriter these were the songs that needed to come out. And they are so personal, so much more a reflection of me as an individual that I wanted complete say in how they were interpreted and arranged so I did what I believe I needed to do, both as a artist and as a regular guy searching for something.

Perrone has played shows all over New England, selling out clubs like the Paradise in Boston and garnering praise as both a performer and a songwriter in well respected newspapers and magazines. This year he is being recognized for his individual performance with a Boston Music Award Nomination for Best Local Male Vocal.

I'm proud of everything Averi has done and accomplished. I've been places with the guys in Averi that I never thought I'd go and I hope to go further with them at some point. But I'm excited for this& I'm excited and anxious to take this step& to show people what I have to offer. And if the record is any indication of this, that could be a lot.

By Demetrios Katis, 2007-04-13

Real Epic Dynamic instrumental / orchestral music. Powerful Dramatic Epic scores of Historical & Mythological adventures, fiction and fantasy.
Perhaps this music of mine brings to mind a diffused colourful description of heavy weight images and a feeling of a grieved heroism which lies back there in the ancient & medieval anguished times blended with the melancholy of a poet promenader. The fair light which is sourced from the woods of springs reedems a forlorn promise and penetrates the dark fear of the unknown.

Love and passion placed in an epic saga, past and contemporary wandering knights against distorted truth, barbarian tribes and delusions of grandeur. Medieval Castles and temples, ancient warriors, kings & queens, glory and romance, lost worlds, space encounters and the endless agony of searching for alien life in the relativity of the Universe. Also daily cases & situations of simple people may suddenly be transformed in an epic gigantic unexpected story. All these matters and others can be covered by this music as well.

"Real Epic" also describes the heroes just like the American defenders of Alamo ("Gallant Defender) and the ancient Greek defenders of Thermopylae (August 480 B.C.), moreover the epic saga of the pre-celtic "battle of Moy Tura" and the close historical connection between the ancient Greeks-Romans and the Irish, Welsh & Scottish people back at a strange mysterious era, depicted thru the track of "Isles of the Dannan" . "The Siege of Yorktown" is about the great American revolution, and "The Loss of the Heroes" is exclusively dedicated to the memory of the heroic & brave crew of the the space shuttle Columbia. Glory and Honor for the last Anglo-Saxon king Harold II.

"Real Epic" cd could be promotional treated as a power classic rock or metal music material though has nothing to do with that kind of music, only because it can cause strong sentiments, additionally with its pictorial-film mood and classical flavour. A Show with Epic Mood, Myths and Orchestral music, and a bit of philosophy, filtered highly commercially, can be pesented as a film soundtrack on stage. Historical and Mythological themes surrounded by technical scenes, interstitial narrations by actor(s), and maybe a few strong acts professionally directed to boost the project. Different mix arranged for the shows, Symphonic sound joined with rock band insertions.

Just only imagine this music adventure performed on Stage!!! An ideal music score for your epic music fantasy and motion picture Demetrios Katis.-

REVIEWS including BUD CARR's (Oliver Stones's Music supervisor):

Right on the money

"Demetrios - Right on the money (or drachma) ! Three strong, convincing pieces that carry just the right amount of musical Russell Crowe (noble, brave and prone to getting into a fight) for this purpose. You've hit the target with your bow, musket and cannon. Excellent work ! Track Gallant Defender", the sound of epic nobility, right from the start, great job ! Track "The Gathering of the Tribes". Another dramatic entrance. Cool use of gongs for flourishes. Subtle male voices add a nice dimension. Time to put on my chain mail and fight ! Demetrios, your thematic ideas are strong and clear. Track "Arrogance and Fear" is strong and dynamic piece. Good sectional contrast and thematic development. Creates strong and clear mood."

-- TAXI A&R Department - Calabasas CA, USA

Oliver Stone

Dear Demetrios, I am the music supervisor on Oliver Stones films, I like your music.

--Budd Carr - Hollywood

Epic Sound

Hi Demetris, your epic sounding cds are great. Best, Ron

--Ron Proulx - ARPIX MEDIA INC. - Toronto, Canada

Excellent Music

Dear Demetrios Your music is excellent and very moving, keep on trying--you are very good.

--Bob Rice FBI Four Bars Entertainment - Campell, CA USA

An Epic Symphony

"Having had the privilege of hearing Demetris' earlier release "The Blazing March.....From Genesis To Europe" an epic symphony, my expectations were quite high on receiving his new CD compilation "Gallant Defender." I was not disappointed. Although not a symphony of such epic proportions as "Blazing March" it was as we might expect from a composer of Demetris' stature, a composition of very well crafted dramatic works. Graced with attractive melodies, each piece stands alone as a dramatic composition yet still the underlying dynamics of struggle, war, tragedy, heroism, and rebirth can be found in each, thus tying the whole together. Vigorous, and exhilarating are some of the first words that spring to mind as we can almost feel the call to arms and the gathering of the clan in the opening salvo's. There is a logical musical progression here, realistically capturing the tension, and as it builds, we are transported to another place, another century, and yet at the same time we remain aware of the prevalent struggle occurring on a parallel in our own times. The rite of passage from warfare to sad loss to hope is flawlessly traversed, and while the compilation in general is directed at the dawning of a new era in ancient times it could quite easily be adapted to any country, any struggle, any rebirth in the modern world. This is quite apparent when listening to the poignant "Fallen Hero's" piece, dedicated to the crew of the space shuttle Columbia. The sound quality is excellent, and quite superb considering it is primarily digitally recorded by Demetris himself. I am quite curious as to what keyboard instrument(s) he used to so realistically capture certain orchestral instruments. On the overall I found the whole experience to be intellectually rewarding and the musical journey itself very satisfying indeed."

--Charlotte Hannon - Atlanta Music Group - Marietta, Georgia USA

A Man of Passion

"Demetris is a man of passion, and music is his passion. As a person he is positive, sincere and cheerful, yet his music can be mysterious, haunting and enchanting. His soul and his spirit soar with the mystical characters of old, and it is easy to get carried away by his melodies."

--Ted Johnson - KOOL MUSIC - Toronto, Canada

Great Composer

"Dear Demetrios, I am so happy for you about this project (Bronze & Blood, motion picture). You are a great composer and you deserve all the success you achieve. Keep the good work - it makes a difference to the world. Please keep me up to date on all your developments. - Yours James."

--James A. D. Edwards - Tenor, English National Opera

Amazing Talent

"Demetrios Katis is an amazing talent that continously creates memorable and provocative music. His dramatic material effortlessly combines passion and power with amazing chops. Demetrios is clearly one of the world's best modern composers in his genre."

--Gene Foley - Foley Entertainment, Inc.
