Alamance

Alamance is a very remarkable young band. They are in the process of finishing their third release, titled "Moving On", which is due out 07-08. The first single off their new EP, "Waiting On You," is being released in early July. They've been playing tour dates all over the country, and are gearing up for their second summer on Vans Warped Tour. Great for a band who is barely of driving age, which took the name Alamance from an RV crash they had in Alamance NC on the way to a show!Josh Sorhagen (lead vocals and guitar) started playing guitar at the age of 9. He went to the same school as Erick Woltz (guitar and backing vocals), who started taking lessons from Sorhagen's guitar instructor. They started playing together in 2001, and have had numerous lineup changes since then. However, they eventually found the missing piece when they asked Mike Lisa (drums and backing vocals) to join the band in October 2006. Alamance's first album, was released and recorded in early 2005. Shortly after they released their record, Alamance got their first big break. They were actually on vacation and received a call from a casting director at MTV. She had discovered the band on Purevolume, and wanted them to appear on a "Back To School" episode of TRL with Fall Out Boy. The guys couldn't turn down the opportunity, and they came back early from their vacation to shoot the episode.In 2006, Alamance was discovered when Mike Rodriguez(Smack In The Face Records) came across the band while he was scouting talent for Vans Warped Tour. He recruited them to play the East Coast Indic Stage for the tour, and later signed them to his newest acquisition "Smack In The Face Records". They recorded Drowning Between Life And Lies and released it on the label in June 2006. The record was produced by Rob Freeman ( writer, vocals and guitar in Hidden In Plain View). The lead track off this record, "The Why In Y," has received hundred of thousands of plays online. The second track and ep title "Drowning Between Life and Lies" is currently being featured on the Domino's Pizza website.Not only has the band been constantly writing and recording over the past few years, but they have been touring extensively as well. They have spend the past few 4th of July holidays playing for thousands of U.S. Troops at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, and were invited to come hack again this year as well. They have shared stages with many different bands such as My Chemical Romance, Days of the New, Teddy Geiger, The Jonas Brothers, Last November, The Pilot, and Hidden In Plain View and Houston Calls. Also, they have performed hip-hop icon Darryl McDaniels of Run D.M.C. on several occasions.Alamance in now gearing up for the release of Moving On, produced by Kenny Gioia (Bayside, Cute Is What We Aim For, Mandy Moore, Lee Ann Womack, Marcy Playground, LFO) and Rob Freeman(Houston Calls, Cobra Starship, Hidden In Plain View) and they're very excited about the new material. "The new music shows much more musical depth and expression," says Sorhagen. "It's new and original...a very different style." The new EP will be digitally released spring 08.

Deadman's Hand is looking for a drummer ,we play old school metal covers,slayer,megadeth ,motorhead ,metallica, and originals. We are currently working on recording a cd ,but things are going slower than planned due to our drummer situation. we have gigs lined up and usually play out at least twice a month ,sometimes more ,don't care about age ,just a solid drummer with double bass abilities who is into metal ,and is willing to work on the actual songs instead of just wanting to jam ,contact Tont on this page or call 815-730-1182 ,thanks ...T

John Tropea

John Tropea is one of the most admired and highly regarded guitar players of his generation. His playing shows a vast knowledge and respect for the tradition of the instrument as well as an original style that continues to define how the guitar best serves a wide variety of musical styles. He is a musician's musician who attracts the finest players for his own projects.Tropea has written for and played with major recording artists from around the world. In his long career, his contributions to other artist's successes have been numerous, including his solo work with Deodato, (2001 theme), projects with Laura Nyro, Harry Chapin (Cat's in the Cradle), Paul Simon (Fifty Ways), Alice Cooper (Goes to Hell), Eric Clapton (Journey Man), Dr. John, and many others. He is also a composer, arranger, and producer whose vital work is ably demonstrated by his personal projects. Tropea has a deserved worldwide reputation as an artist of quality among both audiences and other musicians.Tropea began guitar studies at the age of 12. His musical education continued at Berklee School of Music in Boston, where he studied jazz guitar, harmony, composition, and big band arranging. Immediately after arriving in Boston, Tropea began playing live R & B and jazz gigs with many different bands in the area, including The Three Degrees. Influenced by Wes Montgomery, Johnny Smith, Louis Bonfa, Pat Martino, and George Benson, it was at this time that Tropea began to absorb those influences into an original style of his own. Also among his mentors at the time were the great B3 organ players Jack McDuff and Jimmy Smith.After Berklee, Tropea recorded and toured with Deodato. Moving to New York in 1967, Tropea quickly became one of the most sought after session players. He soon became a peer among New York's finest studio musicians. As well as world touring, Tropea wrote and produced three critically acclaimed solo albums with TK records. His first solo album "Tropea," was released in 1975, followed by "Short Trip to Space," and "To Touch You Again." With those early recordings and other projects, Tropea formed close musical alliances with other great New York musicians including: David Spinozza, Warren Bernhardt, David Sanborn, Randy and Michael Brecker, Steve Gadd, Anthony Jackson, Don Grolnick, and Richard Tee (Tropea played in The Richard Tee band). During this time Tropea also wrote and arranged music for film and broadcast advertising. With his frequent co-producer and friend Will Lee, Tropea went on to release "Simple Way to say I Love You”, and "Something Old, New, Borrowed and Blues" Live gigs from that era by The Tropea Band at Mikell's, in New York City, remain legendary. Along with his own projects, Tropea currently plays with the Original Blues Brothers Band.Recently, Tropea has formed an astonishing band that not only gives voice to his "standard influences" but also defines him as a player, composer, and arranger of consummate musicianship and exciting presence. "When I was in college at Berklee School of Music, I was introduced to the Hammond B3 Bands and it was a heavy influence in my development. At this time in my life now, it is my passion to continue to play with this format." Tropea's band plays live regularly these days and has produced two CDs, "Standard Influence," and "Standard Influence II/Rock Candy," both "must haves" in any CD collection. Made up of world-class players, this is no pick up band; this is a REAL band that plays with the refined sense of ensemble one finds in the finest string quartet or chamber music group. David Bennett Cohen's Biography

"Mr. Cohen isn't the average hippie gone Wall Street, he's also a certifiably smokin' barrel house rumba boogie-woogie piano player in the James Booker/Professor Longhair/Dr. John vein." David Bennett Cohen has been a professional musician for more than 40 years. Best known for his innovative keyboard playing as an original member of the '60's rock band, Country Joe and the Fish, he is an equally accomplished guitar player who has been involved in numerous music scenes throughout his varied career. David began his musical education at the age of seven, studying classical piano for seven years. While studying the piano, he began to teach himself the guitar, beginning at the age of nine. When he was 14, he heard boogie-woogie piano for the first time and was hooked. Since then, he has explored many different styles of Blues and popular music. He was fortunate enough to have heard Otis Spann, Professor Longhair, Meade Lux Lewis and other masters of the genre perform live.  "What separates Cohen from a lot of other players is his unassuming ease behind the keys, and the ability to take that admiration past rote emulation, invoking the spirits of boogie-woogie, stride and blues piano greats without ever forcing things or just replicating other folks' licks." In addition to Country Joe and the Fish, over the years, he has played and/or recorded with The Blues Project, Mick Taylor, The Luther Tucker Blues Band, Elvin Bishop, Hubert Sumlin, Melvin Van Peebles, Happy and Artie Traum, Arlen Roth, Eric Anderson, David Blue, Tim Hardin, Norton Buffalo, Jerry Miller, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Buddy Miles, Canned Hear, John Cippolina, Huey Lewis, Michael Bloomfield, Bob Weir, John Kahn, Johnnie Johnson, Jimmy Vivino, Jay Owens, Debbie Davies, Byther Smith, Bobby Kyle, Bill Perry, Rocky Lawrence, Johnny B. The New Year Cometh..

Hey everyone, on behalf of Jodie, Rob, Carl and Paul I want to wish everyone a great new year. We certainly appreciate all the support we've received from the fans, other bands and the bars that we played in ‘07. So far it's been a great time and we will definitely keep it rockin in ‘08.Keep an Electric "Eye" on our site here for videos, pics and of course, upcoming shows. We been working hard on new material and can't wait to share it with all our fans in the upcoming months.
